What is an Academy program?
An Academy training program is provided for those players looking for greater skill development and who desire a more advanced level of training and play. The goal of the program is to develop the skills of each player in a team environment. An Academy training program will provide recreational players an easier transition into select programs.

Who can participate in the Academy program?
The training program is available to all U8 (under age 8) U9 (under age 9) and U10 (under age 10) players who desire advanced skill development training by professional trainers.

Who will provide the training?
The training will be provided by LFC professional trainers administered by Peter Moore, LFC Director of Coaching. LFC trainer profiles can be viewed on the Coaches' page. Click on the tab at the top of this page.

When and where are the Academy teams' practices going to be held?
One and a half hour team practices will be scheduled twice a week. Academy Sessions. Lions Pride Park, next to the Schertz Soccer Complex in Schertz, TX. Optional practices for specific training, i.e. goalkeeper, will also be offered.

When will the Academy teams' training sessions begin?
A new season tentatively begins each August and January. Players who are interested after these dates can still register.

How will the Academy teams be formed?
When players sign up, they are evaluated and placed on a team based on age and ability.

What is the game format for Academy matches?
U8 will either play 5v5 or 7v7, U9 and U10 Academy teams will be composed of 6 players on the field, including the goalkeeper. Maximum team roster size is 10. The players will use a size #4 ball. Some games we may play 7v7 or 8v8 to help build experience.

What teams will the LFC trained Academy teams play against?
LFC trained Academy teams will play against other SA PDF teams. They will also participate in soccer tournaments with an Academy league component. Entry fees into the tournaments are the responsibility of the Academy team parents.

Where will the Academy teams' matches be played?
All team home matches will be held at Lions Pride Park, next to the Schertz Soccer Complex, in Schertz, TX. Away games will be played at the designated home field of the respective teams in the SA PDF.

Who will coach the Academy team in games and tournaments?
The Academy teams are coached by members of the Lions Futball Club staff of professional trainers.

What are the fees for the Academy program?
Check out the Registration Page for pricing. The fee will include professional coaching twice a week and at games, registration, league insurance, referee's, game fields, administration costs and a uniform (1-Red Adidas Game Jersey, 1-Red Adidas Game Shorts, 1-Red Adidas Game Socks, 1-White Game Shirt, 1-Gray Practice Shirt, 1-Black Practice Shorts The uniform is ordered separate ( Uniform $100) there is options to add more uniform the package.
